Illegal drugs
Testing is intended for users of illegal drugs for the purpose of mitigating the risk of overdosing, and other complications associated with the use of unknown substances. Analyses of psychoactive substances are performed in the laboratory with appropriate instrumentation equipment, and in a mobile unit in the field. Data on analyses is collected in the framework of the national network for early warning of the emergence of new psychoactive substances.

At its 19th regular session on 25 July 2013, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Decision on the Establishment of the National Laboratory of Health, Environment and Food (NLZOH). According to this government decision, all regional Institutes of Public Health ceased to exist on the day of the establishment of the NLZOH.
